The organization was an Arizona School Tuition Organization, tasked with collecting tax contributions and awarding them to students at local schools. As a board member I worked with the software vendor to gather requirements and provide the right solution to the non-profit and its users. As the treasurer my responsibility was to track all operations and scholarship balances and put in place software to reduce fraud risk.

Worked with a team to solicit over $1M in charitable contributions.
Gathered and translated user requirements for software vendors.
Personally presented the program to school administrators in Arizona.
Reduced industry standard scholarship award times from months to days.
Funds For Kids merged with another non-profit in 2015.

I was asked by the company co-founder to join as CTO and bring to market a tuition solution for private schools. My responsibility was to create a platform that collects tax contributions, verifies student eligibility, and awards scholarships based on strict state guidelines. The biggest challenge was creating a seamless UI / UX for school administrators, parents, and tax payers in one platform.

Directly responsible for gathering requirements and creating the platform.
Served over 300 schools, 7K tax payers, and $1M in tax contributions.
Devised scholarship risk and award algorithms to automate payments.
Ensured adherence to Arizona State Tuition Organization regulations.
Reduced IRS reporting man hours for our clients from weeks to minutes.

Arkayne was a related links plugin that recommended content not just within publications but across publications. I was responsible for the initial algorithms that resulted in CTR engagement averaging 12%, peaking as high as 33% in sports for example. I was able to raise funds, build a team, manage a group of engineers, and attain positive revenue as CTO.

Created the proof of concept and landed first customers.
Raised $1.2M and a team of 7 people to bring concept to market.

Wanting to work for a Fortune 500 Silicon Valley based company at least once, I accepted the position at PayPal to experience new culture and innovation. As one of the first five engineers in the Phoenix office I helped build more in depth relations with the San Jose office. My engineering responsibilities included Ebay integration as well as building the software for completely new shipping integrations with USPS, UPS, and FedEx.

Responsible for / customer on-boarding.
Awarded “PayPalian of the Year” and “Meteorite” awards.
Presented “Tech Talks” on several developer productivity tools.
Worked remotely with eBay and PayPal team in US / China / India.

Software Engineer II - Tucson Embedded Systems

Hired for my systems experience I was immediately tasked with helping reduce the integration of communications hardware into military rotary wing platforms. I was able to create a proof of concept, and deliver live demos to both military and private contractor demonstrating software for which i would eventually be awarded a patent. We succeeded in reducing integration cost and schedule significantly for a all military helicopter classes as well as several dozen communication devices.
